I am about to be the proud owner of 03 7.3 stroke F250 FX4. She has 57.5 k miles on her. I am going to be putting exhaust, air intake, and probably a custom burned chip from a very reputable company. I know for sure I need to get EGT gauge and probably a boost gauge. I won't be pulling anything, the most I will do is pull a boat or once in a while pull a small trailer. So I am looking more for performance.

So my cousin was telling me he read that the bigger exhaust you go the less you will have to worry about EGT's getting too high. Or at least it will help out a lot with that. He read that in some diesel performance magazine. So should I go 5 inch?? Can you go larger than that?? Does it even make that much difference either way?? I am very new to diesels so just trying to make sure I do everything right the first time.

Thanks

I want to do my gauges different and not them down the pillar, so that no one can see them as well. I am going to research to find some different ones.

If the gauges are under there would it be harder to see? Meaning you have to look down at them? Maybe I am not understanding where you exactly you are talking about?

click on that then click on the pic, its the triple pod next to the ash tray...
well i dont think so, but if your unsure of it go sit in your truck and look down at it and see if it feels confortable to you.. i plan on putting a trans temp, water temp and possible that auto meter gauge that gell you Approx HP 0-60 accel and stops ect. so i dont plan on having to stare at them a quick glance should be suficent for me. but its all about what feels confortable for you...

I see what you mean. Its makes sense now that you would put them down there. Not a bad idea.
Thanks for the input.
