what should the turbo boost be on 01 f350

does anyone know what the boost should be on an 01 7.3L ?
my boost peaked at 18.5 at 3200 rpm. But normal everyday driving around 55 mph my boost is at 3 psi and never goes above 7 unless I put it to the floor.

Is there a website where I can get stock engine performance perameters. like what boost should be at different rpm, normal egt temps, trans fluid temps, I guess just a spec sheet on 01 7.3 thanks for your help, Dave

your boost is good. and normal if you're still stock for a max boost and that's what you'll see even modded just driving around

Boost with a turbo is not directly related to the engine rpm or speed but how hard the truck is working.

normal driving with no load boost should stay under 10 (or 7) all the time and generally under 5 except acceleration or maybe climbing the bridges over the intercoastal.


as far as an expected perameter sheet for the 7.3 I can't say that I've seen one. for trans temps general rule of thumb is 100°-120°F above ambient temp and should not exceed 220°F you have to get an idea of where your truck runs because every truck & transmission run slightly differently, my trans ran 190 solid as a rock before I rebuilt it, now it runs runs 180.

It's all about engine load.

Examples would be, on my 2K: @ 60mph empty.. flat'n level.. 'bout 2 lbs of boost. 12K 5r in tow, flat'n level, 6 lbs.

Trans temps (6 spd) at the same parameters are: 100* empty and 140 loaded.

Again.. It's all about engine load. But as Brandon sez.. Temps may vary some, truck to truck.

MAP=Boost??

This may be a dum question.....On my ScanGuage does the manifold pressure = turbo boost? There is no separate setting for turbo boost so I was jus' wonderin.............
