'08 Fuel Economy Update
Current Mods:
1. Bakflip hard bed cover
2. Hypertech Max Energy Programmer - Stage 3. I asked Hypertech what their most economical stage setting was, but they never replied.
I took a trip from Nashville to Dallas just last week towing a small utility trailer with about 500lbs of material. On the way there and back we were fighting pretty stiff winds.
A. For the first 350 miles, we averaged 14.5mpg. For the second 350 miles, it was closer to 13.5. Average driving speed was 74mph...total average for the trip to Dallas was 68mph.
B. On the way back, we were getting some strong cross winds, and pulling an empty trailer. The first 350 miles we averaged about 14.5mpg, and the second half we averaged about 15.2mpg. Same driving speed, same average.
C. In-town driving we average about 12.5 to 13mpg. By that, I mean I'm not heavy on the gas or stop fast...so, I think my next economy upgrade will be a new air box. The Super Duty is a nice truck, but I was getting better fuel economy with my '04 Avalanche.
