Well I just got me another truck. A real nice looking 96 ccab sbed 4x4. I really would like to get this truck into the 350 hp range. What do ya'll recommend? I got a 6.0 intercooler and am still waiting on a kit from GTS to show up. I got 3"dp in their already and the cat and been removed so I got a straight through 3 1/2" exhaust. It has a SMF/clutch but I don't have a clue what kind. Also it already has gauges. I plan on calling Dale I. soon and getting a 1.0 exhaust housing, tymar intake and a HX hose. Then I am planning on a DIY injector rebuild, and am thinking about going to about 160 cc. Is this enough?? Then of course I'll call Tony and have him send me a chip tuned for it all. Am I up in the air about my expectations?? I'll use the truck to tow alot and don't wanna comprimise the reliablity too much either. What else am I needing??? I know the clutch may not hold but I'll cross that bridge when needed.
Thanks

Layne

If you are truly committed to 350 horse, forget the 1.0 housing, it's designed to quick spool with stock injectors...your 1.15 housing is just fine for where your trying to go....The DYI 160cc injectors if done right should be comparable to Bean's stage one in theory, they both have the stock nozzles...so a rule of thumb is that the one's are gonna add somewhere around 100 hp with Tonys burns in your chip.....Those injectors and tonys burn will overtax your stock hpop.....just not enough hpo to keep up with the extra fuel....the solution is the superduty 17° pump, 99 percent of those out their are rebuilts and it is hard to identify the 17°. If it has the "humped" rear cover it's a go...it can still be a 17° with the flat cover, but the cover has to be removed to see if it has a bushing @ the rear, not the 15° with the ball bearing....expect to spend anywhere from 400 to 600 on this pump...If your stock fuel pump is fresh fuel delivery should be no problem, but a few other tweaks will help solve some problems like flat lining and loss of power @ wot. a exhaust pack pressure bypass (dongle) and a dyi boost pressure regualtor in the map line will solve those, less that 75.00 bucks in parts.....

with the investment above and everything works as planned, you could get to as much as 310-320 hp., and if you do get there you are gonna like it alot!!:burnit :burnit   :thumbs

I'm not truly commited to that much. Just wanna be somewhere around their. 300-350hp would make me happy. I forgot to mention that a superduty hpop might be needed. I figure that I'll get it together and see how the stock pump works and go from there.
"a exhaust pack pressure bypass (dongle)" whats this??
Thanks

It connects to the harness that goes to your exhaust back pressure sensor, eliminates the stock sensor altogether.......it fools that pcm into thinking that all is well with back pressure and won't start cutting back on fuel @ high boost/high back pressure... Sp diesel I think designed it , and other folks like blackcloud markets one that everyone says works good.... the dyi boost regulater is an air compressor regulator in the map line adjusted to trick the map into only seeing around 22 lbs of boost....with the mods you are looking @ doing you could easily make 30-35 lbs and that freaks the map out and when that happens, again the pcm starts to defuel to correct the over boost......

Layne,

Jims posts seem to be right on the money, if you go with what you have mentioned so far you will be right in that 325 hp range. Hang onto your butt and your pocketbook, both will be going fast now.
