Lost passenger side tie rod as I pulled into the airport parking lot space...after having run pretty hard down the freeway to get there. I am counting my blessings. Got it towed to a local dealer and made my flight to boot. Yeesh....
Replaced #8 glow plug that threw a P0678 code last week. The bad glow plug measured about 250 ohms instead of approx. 1 ohm for a good one. Still have a P0674 code coming back intermittently for the #4 glow plug. It checked good from the glow plug to the driver's side harness plug on the valve cover. Thinking I have a harness problem between the valve cover plug and the GPCM. Saving that one for next weekend.
And the hits keep coming! In the last few weeks I had to have a two year old Die Hard Gold replaced under warranty, FICM power board replaced (truck just wouldn't start one morning, 48V was only 22V during cranking, replaced through Amazon for $100), and now the alternator which tested good but periodically dropped out and wasn't charging all the time. Only found that one while monitoring module voltage on my Insight monitor. I did take the opportunity to upgrade the alternator from 110 amps to 140 amps while I was at it. I think the front brakes may be next....
Problems, like you are experiencing, happen when it gets cold. I was traveling through western Colorado a month ago and it was very nice. Cold in the mornings but the days were great!
Installed a set of Bilstein shocks. 75k on originals with no leakers and they seemed to work ok but the Bilsteins are hopefully going to ride better. Sitting in the warm shop waiting for the snow, wind, blizzard conditions to start. Throw another log in the wood stove and sit back and see what happens.
