Today I learned that two gaskets are not better than one.
I was changing my fuel filter, had the new gasket in place and put the lid on. Turned key to look for leaks, and that is when I noticed part of the gasket sticking out the side of the lids. But not before a little diesel spray.
Next tried to take lid back off truck to fix the gasket. Which brings me to the second thing I learned today:
Right tight, left loose
I fought for an hour to get that lid off only to realize that I was using all the force I could to tighten it down farther.
Once I figured that out, I took the lid off, noticed I had two rings on the lid. Remove the bad one, closed it all back up. Turned key and no leaks.
I think I'm going to go sit in the corner for awhile now....
