I think I will pick me up a switch and try this "Skweeker" Mod :thanks

The only credit I can take for this "Skweeker" mod is that I think I give a better explaination of where to find the body harness wires.

Good God - I have been looking and asking all over if ANYBODY knew how to make this mod work on the 04's!!!!!

Your are the man! Matter of fact I'm calling Time right now to get you included on the Man of the Year ballot :sweet

Ron

On edit - crap - found the wires but I'm out switches - have to wait until rush hour traffic is done.

I am going to use a standard heavy duty metal switch that will work with the red flip covers you see in the picture below. It will mount directly under the one on the left hand side.

I used the ground off the parking brake that goes to the brake light on dash to a 30 amp relay ground terminal. I used a 3 amp fuse on the white w blue stripe split it after the fuse, one to a toggle switch and the other to the power terminal on the 30amp relay.
I mounted a small 12 volt light from radio shack using a solid ground, as the parking brake ground is intermittent. I connected the light wire with another wire on out sourse of the switch and used a diode going to the switch terminal on relay.
This way the light will be on when the switch is on, instead of only on after applying the parking brake. If you don`t use a diode on the switch terminal and use a solid ground, voltage will bleed back with the intermttent ground and the light will be on dim. And the same goes if you use the parking brake ground, the light will only work when you apply the parking brake.
On the wires above the parking brake,
(On mine there was only 2 wires coming out a blue w yellow stripe and a yellow wire use ONLY the blue w yellow stripe)

And this worked on my 2003 as well, the wires are short and it was not easy getting my fat hands under the dash in these areas to connect longer wires to them. All you need is a few feet each of different color 14 guage wire. All the 12 volt power for the light, switch and relay comes off the white w blue stripe wire. I used the clear bell shaped crimp connectors, a toggle switch,30 amp light relay and small 12 volt light at radio shack. I had everything except the relay which cost $3.99 at Auto Zone.
I had less than $15 invested in parts, but several day`s on the computer finding out how to with the help of skweeker
And Thanks again to skweeker

2003 F250 6.0,Lariat,4X4,ClubCab,long bed,Edge w Attitute, sct Xcalibrator trans. tune. Attitute egt`s before turbo & dual manuel guages egt after turbo and boost.

Skweeker,

Will this mod work on an o3 7.3

I do not believe so. The information for the mod that I mention is in the 2004 body manual that aftermarket companies use to upfit the basic truck chassis.

There may be a mod for the old 7.3L but I do not know what it would be. My 2004 F250 is my first truck and my first diesel engine. Sorry but I have not had reason to check into any mods available for the 7.3L.

I was going to try this mod and took a look under the dash on my 05 F-350 and the light blue/yellow stripe wire is not to be found among the ones that are terminated with shrink tubing.

They are all pretty small gauge wires (16-18 maybe) and there are about a dozen of them there but no blue/yellow. There are also 4 wires (red, blue, white & yellow) that are about 12-14 gauge with them that are not terminated with shrink tubing, they are just cut off with smooth ends.

I guess Ford changed colors for 05..........
