weird boost leak?

The pick up tube in the tank was broken. So I think it was sucking up air and making it run rough and no power. I installed an inline filter with a piece of hose for now till the customer orders the hutch mod.

I still don't get full boost tho. I get 13-14 wot. I don't know, that might be normal. Its an f450 if that matters.

So driving it with the fuel pressure gauge now it gets down to 40psi at wot. But no lower than that. And just cruising and idle it stays at 55 psi.

Its driving great though

Hmmmm.. so it's a customers 450.. didn't catch that.

The low boost could be.. Air In the Fuel.. after the in-tank repairs, that may clear up some.. as the air gets purged. You should see..15-19 psi boost.

Along with whats been mentioned, on a 7.3 you can bump the fuel pressure up to 60-70 psi by shimming the FPR. Runs MUCH, MUCH better. You might tell him 'bout that too ?

I only see 13-14 boost on mine. fwiw

Well.. not having tweaked on that many 450's, maybe 13-14 Is normal. Don't know why there'd be a dif between a 250, 350 and a 450 but.. who knows.

Air in the fuel delivery system could still create some boost issues though, IMO.
