Weak parking brake

I've been doing some reading on this forum and others and I'm getting the impression that this truck's weak parking brake is a common problem. I would expect it could at least hold its own weight on a slight incline... much less be good enough to feel secure while launchingloading my bass boat solo w/o worrying the whole rig ends up in the lake.

So... Is it a common problem? Are there any ways/mods to improve it besides the normal adjustments? (already done that).

I have never had any problems with mine rolling away but I do find that they are always out of adjustment. Are you sure your e-brake shoes have lots of meat left on them? It is also common for pivots (under the little rubber boot) at the top of the backplate to partially seize/ completely seize and not allow the shoes to spread far enough.
