waterpump. giant nut

I pulled the waterpump out of the truck,it was leaking...did I screw up by not getting the fan/pulley off before taking the pump out, can the pulley be removed without the special {TOOL}?,

You can if you have BIG channel lock pliers. I did mine on my '93 and it came off nicely. You can rent or beg one from Auto Zone, I think, or a tool rental company.

or put the impeller in a vise to hold it if your changing the pump its junk anyway just squeeze it till it holds
