Question wastegate rod

has any one tried tightening the wastegate rod
it seems like if you tighten the rod it would incease the pressure that it takes to open the wastegate so you should get more boost
just my two cents what yall think

Kinda "Old School" now but yes, it can be turned in. Back in the day, I turned the OEM rod in by indexing it.. then turned it IN 6 full turns. IIRC it got me about 8 or 10 lbs of boost.

But one thing leads to another. The MAP sensor will need to be "Fooled", so to speak, or yul get a CEL, set a Code and the PCM will go into a De-fuel mode. A Boost Pressure Relief Valve (BPRV) will fix that.... installed between the Y pipe and the MAP sensor.

I finally just disconnected the vacuum line to the wastegate. I keep a eye on the boost and don't let it over 21-22lbs.

YES.. Gauges are a MUST.

Those threads are crimped.. a little penatrating oil helps.. go slow.

This will stop the wastegate from opening all together. I plugged the red line to the wastegate to keep the vacuum closed.

Just for what it's worth ? You might wana re-think that ?

If the waste-gate actuator is simply un-plugged.. boost pressures could/would then simply be.. un-controlled.

The actuator slooowly begins to >Bleed off< boost, at a given OEM pressure. If we Mod that pressure (?) More boost... but it still BLEEDS off the pressure at a [controlled] rate.

Dis-connecting the actuator COULD, under certain, but unknown.. throttle inputs and/or load demands.. cause the waste-gate to DUMP pressure.. All At Once. Not Good.

Just something to think about ?
