If you're on a high speed Sat system they don't work too good . .at least that's been my experience. If you've got a reasonably good broadband system then they're ok.

The different area code actually works to my advantage. My sisters live in a different part of Florida which has Vonage area codes. I picked an exchange that they could call me with a local call. I can call them using seven digits as well. It's like living there!

My Father lives in Mexico but has a Bay Area phone number and area coded. Some deal, we make a local call to Mexico.

We've had it for almost a year and the sound quality is just as good as the land line. In fact, we called our speculative relatives on the Vonage line and they thought it was our home phone. Then we told them we just changed. I believe you've got to have a good cable modem connection, not sure how the wireless connections would work. As for the 911 issue, we've got our lines set and "registered" with 911, but we've never called to check if it works yet. We got the $15 a month plan for 500 minutes plus a fax line, total of $25 a month and we've never broken 500 minutes. I like it.

I checked our internet provider's website (wireless system), and they also provide a VoIP service, so I'm sure that Vonage will work on the wireless system.

Bruce, I have another question for you: What about a home security system? My son is getting his box tomorrow so he can hook up with Vonage, he said they have two connectors which could be used for a phone line and a fax line. If you hook up the security system, you'd need a splitter or something for a third line.
