Hey,

My cars got a viper alarm system and im having some issues with it. Its older and recently I let my car battery go bad by accident. For some reason when I charge the battery and put it back on the alarm will not shut off with the clicker. Is there something special I have to do after the battery goes dead to turn the alarm off?

Thanks

Jeff have you tried contacting Directed or a local Directed dealer as they could guide you thru how to reset the alarm if thats what is required.

I'm not sure if the memory with your alarm is supported by the vehicle battery or an internally installed battery with the alarm brain.

just helped a neighbor w/ her ford (eventually had to replace the
battery).

only way i could get the alarm to STOP (when i connected the battery
or put jumper cables on) was to hold the valet button (which i might
add was NOT hidden very well) and turn the key.

when i replaced the battery i did this same "hold the valet button/turn
the key" started the car and then everything worked as expected
afterwards.

Hiding the valet button only keeps the honest people honest besides the fact that with Directed alarms the customer is supposed to change the number of pulses required to disarm. Default being one so I guess your neighbor never changed it. I'm a former installer and I just left my dangling behind the fuse panel for quick access without drilling an unecessary hole.
