My 99 super duty diesel has 72000 miles. Has always ran great in the past, recently when I cold start the truck it runs super rough and will eventually stall. When I accelerate the truck, black smoke pours out, but it seems to take off like a bat out of he_ _. After the truck is run for approx. an hour the truck runs fine. I have replaced all the filters and installed a new cam shaft sensor after someone had mentioned to me that this may have been the cause, but that did nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

ok it sounds nothing to worry about you have one of the most reliable trucks built,,, the only thing is that your truck being 99 has a couple of bad things to it,,, have you checked the connector clips inside the valve covers?? usually thats what causes it until it stops working one day. If i were you that would have to be the first thing i would check let me know when you check it and take it from there those clips cost about 10 bucks at ford dealer and it is something that messes up on these trucks.

Glow plug Relay

Hello Joe: I spoke with a diesel mechanic, and he is thinking what you were thinking the glow plug relay. So I am going to try that next. Thanks again for the input. I will keep you posted.

When I recently replaced the fuel injectors, I also replaced all the glow plugs as long as I was in there already. I suspected that I might have had a bad glow plug. But after removing all the old glow plugs, I OHM'ed them all and found 3 of the 8 were bad.

No wonder it was smoking in the morning like a mosquito fogger.

Hello Kent: If the glow plug relay does not indeed take care of the problem, I will look into that. Thank you for your input Kevin
