you mentioned no regards to older diesel owners? (years of cars)
dont the newer ones neew the lubrication just as much?[/QUOTE]

I edited my post to reflect "Little regard".

I had gone Toe to Toe with the CARB yesterday and was a bit Sidewayz with the EPA/CARB folks.:rant :rant

We all know that ULSC Diesel won't directly..>HURT< our older engines but a little added lubrication wont hurt either, IMO. The choice to add it, would be Yours to make.

Newer engines are designed, or re-designed to use ULS Diesel. Components, seals, gaskets and the like, are made of metals and materials that are more ULSC diesel "Friendly", than older engines (?).

No... We're not Throw'n in sum Chain saw/Dirt Bike oil.

Some of us are adding 16 ounces of 2 cycle oil to 25 gallons of dezel fuel to put some luibrication back into our older style engines fuel system. Engines that the EPA had little regard for when they sat in there 10th floor "THINK TANKS" and Legislated Regulation.. with little regard or thought to the older dezel engine owners, or it's impact on us.

:) ;) :)

Isn't 2 cycle oil what you mix in 2 stroke engines....I know what im trying to say I just don't know how to say it to you lol....

16/25 gallons that seems a bit much(can you tell a difference with that)....aren't some guys only running 2-4 ounces per 25 gallons...

Yep, It's the same oil you'd mix for 2 cycle engine. Many of us use the Walmart brand. I use the Ashless type, used for Boat motors. 16oz to 25 gallons seems to be the right ratio. Any more than that you may get some smoke, any less and you would'nt get as much of the lubrication yer look'n for. The 2 to 4oz mix ? I havent heard of that.

Previous fillup I ran 2 oz to 1 gal Diesel with the good of lower injector/engine noise but at the cost of increased CCV fumes.

I have looked at every major truck stop in my area and NONE of them carry the LSD ---- plus by 2010 LSD will be eliminated and only ULSD will be sold --- so its critical in my viewpoint when running ULSD in older Diesel vehicles a good quality additive needs to be added for lubrication properties --- Now dont get me wrong the vehicle will run on the ULSD but per study you are not meeting the minimum lubrication properties and will over the long term wear on your engine .

Copied & Pasted earlier Web forum
Subject: Opti-Lube Diesel Fuel Additive - F250 Gallon Tank Long Bed = ___ ?

-E-mail below as FYI
-It should be noted that Super Tech Outboard 2 cycle TC-W3 Engine oil was ranked at # 7 out of 19
-Based on study I plan to run Opti-Lube XPD ranked at # 2
-For more details click on below Opti-lube web link --- then click on Recent Study

-Hope this helps

Many thanks for your forum web return

-Per my calculations Will require 19 Oz of Opti-Lube XPD
Diesel Fuel Improver

( Multi-Purpose + Anti-Gel, Cetane Improver, Demulsifier )
319 Micron Improvement
256:1 Ratio
For anyone interested + to do own independent research I have provided Opti-Lube XPD web link
Diesel Fuel Improver
Hope this helps a bit

Study was based on a 26 Gallon Tank ( 13Oz per Tank in study )
Study stated $ 4.35 Tank

I have printed out a hard copy and will insert same into owners manual

Great weekend to all

Good evening all

Per recent study Opti-Lube XPD ranked # 2 out of 19 Diesel fuel additives for lubrication improvement properties of the NEW ULSD Diesel fuel ( 15 PPM )

Ranked # 1 was 2% REG SoyPower Bio-Diesel

I was using Amsoil Diesel Concentrate but it was ranked at 9

Anyway I ordered 3 gallons of the Opti-Lube XPD to give it a try in a couple tank fulls of ULSD diesel in my area that is all that is being sold --- the older 500 PPM I cant locate ---- the Opti-Lube XPD is scheduled to be delivered Tomorrow .

So I looked in my Ford Owners manual for Fuel Tank Size so I may mix the proper ratio recommended by Opti-Lube XPD --- has a 256:1 ratio based on a 26 Gallon Tank per study --- 13 Oz per 26 Gallon tank ---- estimated cost = $ 4.35 Tank.

Finally for my question the Factory FORD Owners manual has Four Tank sizes listed ( Page 289 )
-I believe I have the Long Box tank that states 38 Gallons is this correct ?
-Does long box also cross reference to long Bed ?

I have a regular cab long bed Model Yr 2006 FX4 Auto Trans

Your assistance as always is most appreciated
