u joints

ok, i went to dealer and bought some spicer u joints... i go to replace... i get one side seated.. pin in place.. go to seat other side... and one side thats seated explodes.. we havent even got this other side far enough to put pin in.... could i have defective u joint? ... we were using a matco u joint and ball joint puller, and made sure caps were seated proper, and were free before seating all the way. so i took cap off my other u joint... tried again.. we couldnt get it to seat far enough to get clip in... so i sanded down the clip a little bit.. and got it to clip in. what do you guys think of this. i got the bad u joint replaced atleast.. but still want to get other one. im gonna go back to dealer, and see if i can get it replaced.

usually happens when you drop a needle bearing into the bottom of the cap..
I'm not saying, I'm just saying...

If you added extra grease that could cause the cap not to seat deep enough to get the clip seated. A u-joint is built to go together VERY tight inorder to keep the grease in and the dirt out.

well.. ive driven about 100 miles with it.. squeek free, and all clips and caps look fine.. im guessing its just a really tight fit... i think next time i might stick the u joint in the freezer.. and this throw it on .. maybe that would help
