Lift the truck, grab the left and right side of the wheel and shake it...if the rotor and wheel are shaking and the steering knuckle is moving...it's the bearing

As for the tranny, it only seems to do it (or I only seem to feel it) on a steady throttle under a light load such as with the cruise on going up a hill.

Thats the way Flash101st truck acted. After we greased the drive shaft splines and drained/filled the rear diff fluid and put in new friction modifier 80%of the shudder went away.

Just a thought.

Well, I just replaced my upper and lower ball-joints and I had all of these parts in my hands, and all seemed good. I am just paranoid that I did not put something together properly. The truck seems fine and solid, but (it's probably just me) it seems that it has more "tire noise" now than before.

You may just be listening more intently than before. Everything goes back on the way it came off...unless you had extra parts left over then you probably put it back together correctly.

I've thought about rebuilding the rear but I'm not quite sure where to find the kit to rebuild it. As for the driveshaft splines, do you mean the splines inside the driveshaft that allow it to expand/contract?

Yeah, no leftover parts. you're probably right, but I can't help the paranoia.

Bart..............if your tires are cupped just a little and you rotated them when you had them off it would not be uncommon to hear additional road noise.

Jesse...........Yes we greased the expansion spines on the shaft but what seem to help the most was replacing the rear diff fluid and friction modifier. Can't say if this will help your truck but it did help with one that had a low speed vibration.

That's probably it. It was aligned and rotated at the same time since I did the tie rods as well.

Could the shudder possibly be a misfire problem that I am only able to feel with the tc locked up?

I have checked the u-joints by putting the truck in park and shaking the driveshaft in and out, back and forth checking it for play and found none. If there is another way to check, let me know.

My buddy is going through Wyotech for diesel mech and he said it could be misfires because of bad rings in a cylinder. He said symptoms are excessive blowby. Now, I don't know about you guys who have done the CCV mod, but mine puts out a constant visible vapor that can be seen coming from under the truck...don't know if that's excessive, but should I look into it?
Thanks,
Jesse
