Hi Guys,

This is my first post and I wish it was under better circumstances. I just bought a 97 F250 PSD a couple of weeks ago, my first diesal. I drove it Sat with absolutley no problems. Got up Sunday and she wouldn't start. She turns fine but nothing. No spitting sputtering, nothing, just turns. I was hoping to start my diesal education later than sooner but oh well. If this was a gas engine I would probably suspect fuel pump or ignition. I would like to rule out or confirm this wierd fuel pump. Is there a convienant place to take a pressure? Any online diagnosis guides?

Just one other weird thing. sometime between yesterday and tonight, it looks like it dumped some fluid from the front of the engine somewhere. Not a whole lot but noticable. It's not diesal. Maybe antifreeze but why while it's just sitting doing nothing. It's not dripping. Looks like about a glass full was let loose.

Thanks in advance

Ken

Welcome aboard..........we are glad you are here.

Not sure about your leak but if the batteries are not up to snuff it will not start. Will turn over fine but no go.

The PCM must have the right voltage or no go..........

Pull the batteries and get them tested. If one is bad be sure to replace them both.

If the local Autozone(or whomever) says they are ok then you can look at other things like the pump or cps.

not sure one the 97s but on my 99 by the passengers feet theres a fuel pump restart, incase that got triggered...
if you disconnect the fuel pump, crank it once or twices youll be able to tell if your getting fuel:roflmao.. as far as a CPS its possible, i would suggest buying a couple (ebays the cheapest ive found them) and keeping one in your glove box...
also check your fuel filter, if it hasnt been changed in a while it could be the problem.... has # 2 been the only fuel ran in the truck or has some bio been ran through it???

welcome and good luck getting it going.... hope ive been of some use

Does the Tach move when it's turning over?? If not probably the CPS. Are you getting any white smoke while it's turning over??

As mentioned before get the batteries checked and if a replacement is needed replaced them both.

One more thing to check is the maxi fuses under the hood drivers side in the black box, sometimes the fuel heater in the fuel canister pop's lose and can blow a fuse.

Not sure on the leak

Good luck and keep us updated

Oh and Welcome

Any smoke while cranking? If not its CPS or blown#22 Maxi fuse(fuel heater shorting out).

Thanks guys. I will start checking some of these things. The previous owner said he replaced both batteries recently. It turns over pretty fast but I will check anyway. I don't have an owners manual to figure out which fuse does what so I checked them all and they were all ok. If it was the fuel filter, wouldn't it at least try to fire? I'm going to go check the tach to see if it responds when turning over.

The leak is kinda weird. I caught it leaking today. It was a little after noon here in Florida. I can only figure the heat has somthing to do with when it wants to leak. At any rate I think my water pump is probably gone. I guess when it rains it pours....
