I'm down to one last bolt, the left (drivers side) rear pedistal bolt and I just broke my 1/4" universal joint trying to get the damn thing loose . After dinner I have to run to Sears and pick up a couple of new u-joints and try it again. Then the turbo will be out. The two bottom bolts on the up pipe to turbo collector were really special also . Bout that time I would have liked to have had one of Fords engineers family jewels in a vise grip giving him the old whatfor!-popcorn

Anybody know if these are "special" o-rings in case I cant get them at my IH or Ford house tomorrow? I really want to replace the o-rings while the pedestal is off.

...but you already know this!Don`t shut your hot engine down after a hard run. Switching your engine off after a heavy haul when the exhaust temperature is above normal engine idle temperature can result in turbo bearing damage.
With the engine stopped there is no oil flow over the bearings that support the hot turbocharger wheel assembly. This causes the residue oil being burned and the resulting carbon will cause premature turbo failure!

Is your turbo leaking oil?
