Turbo Questions

After much calling, and searching, I am finding very few places that can do a turbo in my area. I even called the local International place and was told that the turbo a fuel system are proprietary to Fords. I did not know that.

One placed asked what the turbo number was. I have no idea. I know what truck it is on and that it is by Garrett. Could someone enlighten me, please?

Then, if anyone that has a good shop that they go to or have used, could you find out if they sell the kit for rebuilding the turbo and the cost? You can PM me the info if you do not want it here, or if it violates rules.

I have at least found one place, but they seem expensive to me. $210 just for labor, parts extra. But they will balance it for $70. Rebuild could be from a day or two to a week, if parts are in-house.

turbocity.com has turbo rebuild kits really cheap i hear... and the instructions are great.... never used them but i heard nothing but good

How much boost should a stock f-250 push?

Stock, superduty, should be around 17-18 psi max. Add anything to that and it changes quickly!!!

The turbo is a gtp38. It is proprietary to the PSD. I believe that's why there is a P in the garret # gtp38. PM 95stroker to see where he got his rebuild kit from. $210 seems a little high but there sounds like there aren't that many shops that can do the work in the area.

Ford part #F81Z6K682BARM for the turbo...maybe that can get you somewhere for a rebuild kit.

Thanks for the answer. Im only getting 18lbs out of my turb and i have a edge programmer and a banks big head wastegate. Could i have a leak somewhere
