This is how they defined it on the service order. Took
the truck in since had a noise coming from the intake
or turbo area of the motor. If raced the engine and let
off the pedal got this puffing or flutter (air sound).
When they took off the air filter element was louder.

Thought it might be the turbo but they said it would have
been a more high pitched whine.

Than asked if the exhaust filter was plugged and causing
back pressure. They said no.

Anyway they said couldnt figure it out, and must be
normal so told me to come and pick it up.

Now he did say ran into this on some 6.0 motors but
no 6.4 so far

Any one else have this issue.

I noticed the same problem after installing the dpf delete pipe. Never heard it before. Sounds like you're riding on a flat tire. It comes on after letting off the gas.

id have to say its the variable vane turbo acting like a blow-off valve releasing extra pressure. Mine does it, especially when plowing and loading the truck well and then coming to an abrupt stop. Never had any problems with it so far. Id imagine if you have a cold air or anything other than the stock airbox or aftermarket exhaust, its going to make this more noticable.

just drove the truck to Dallas today. Still get the sound
during in town driving. Stop and go traffic. On the
road dont notice anything, runs fine. Mileage still
the same around 13 on the road so, like they said
cant be a particulate filter problem, mileage in range
with what other customers seeing.

The air box and all is stock on the truck. No mods

Guess its just a characteristic of dual turbo's and
the filter combination. Since others have noticed it
too.
