Just got done installing my chip on my 01 F250 and cranked it up and it started fine and ran fine, but ran the exact same as stock no matter what position I put the switch in. I was under the impression that if the contacts aren't clean enough the truck wont start at all? Is it possible that a few of the contacts didnt get clean enough and wont let any of the tunes except for stock work?

Thanks

When you installed the switch, did you put it back on the same way? The switches have like 12 positions on them. If you put it back on wrong, 180* off, (don't ask) if will run stock.

If you are talking about the knob, mine would only go on in one direction, the switch also has a stopper on it so only six of the twelve positions can be selected.

Yes, when I installed the knob, the stop ring came off. I was off by 180* when I put it back on and none of the tunes worked.

JLDickmon:
That's all I could think of too. That and cleaning the contact points better.

majek5:
Thanks for the suggestion, i'll take a look at it today and check that out.

My TS chip has only 6 pos. Never Heard of a 12 pos...not saying there ISNT one. Just never heard of it. I know DP offers different set-ups, I believe all the way up to 16 pos. Make sure you circuit traces aren't broken.

The switch/knob has 12 positions. The TS style chip can only support 6 positions. It is a storage issue.

no such thing as half-seated chip. it will not even turn over if its not on all the way or if half of the traces are making contact.

why do you say that you are not switching programs? what are you doing and what makes you think its not switching?

I recleaned the contact points today and it works fine now. By it not switching programs I meant it was running stock no matter what, even my high idle setting wasn't different.

But now that it's installed I’m satisfied with everything except that in the 140 hp setting, anytime it shifts into third or fourth the shift is way too hard, like to the point where it feels like something is going to break. It feels as if the torque converter locks in as soon as the transmission changes gears, and the shift is worse the more you are accelerating.
