Wondering if anyone can gimmie some help. My truck died a coupke of weeks ago, just now gettin around to fixing it. I dont think its getting fuel. I got my brother to crank it when I pushed on the schrader valve and fuel came out but it still wont start. I sprayed a little ether down the intake and it cranked right up but died right after the ether was gone. Im suspecting its the IPR valve. Any thoughts?

Is the tach reading out while you're cranking it? If not it's possibly the CPS. Cheap and easy fix.

Ya, I thought the CPS was the culprit also, so I went ahead and replaced it. Like I said before, it starts on ether, so it cant be the CPS. It wouldn't start at all it that was the case. It seems like its not getting fuel or something.

actually it will start even if the CPS was bad with ether.a diesel will run no matter what as long as it has a fuel to burn.

check the IPR solenoid to see if the little sheetmetal nut is loose or missing.check the wires going to the IPR to see if they are shorted out.fuel being spilt on the wireing during filter changes will melt them.could be the IPR itself like my buddies truck just did.you could try to unplug the ICP sensor on the front of the drivers head and see if it starts.

Thank you for the correction, you are right. Tried unplugging the ICP, still no start. Having trouble locating the IPR, is it under the fuel bowl?

Are you getting any white smoke at all while cranking? Perhaps the fuel heater shorted and took out the IDM fuse. I think it is the Maxi fuse #22

no smoke, but checked fuses, they are all good. Im really stumped on this one, cant really afford to take it in and dont like to anyways. Do you think it could be the injection pump?
