I recently purchased a 2002 F350 and I am know experiencing a starting problem. I can start teh truck in the morning with no problems, but after I drive it for a while and shut it off, I have to wait about 30 mins before it will turn over and start. I have had the batteries checked and they are both good and it doesn't show any codes. Any body have any thoughts?

Will the engine not turnover or just not fire up:

When you had the batteries tested did they test with the cable connected or disconnected?

Also check the starter solenoid and started battery post I have found a loose wire that wire loose contact when hot.

Welcome aboard........sorry you are having a problem. If the engine does not turn over at all it may indeed be something like a starter solinoid. It is located on the passenger side fender well. Put a jumper across the two large terminals and see if it turns over. If so, you know what your problem is.

Thank you for the quick responses.

The batteries were diconnected and checked by a friend of mine at the dealership and he said they were good, he also checked all connections from the battery and at starter.

I will try and check the starter solinoid today if I can get it too not start.

Another thing I have noticed is when the truck won't turn over I hear a noise coming from something in front of the driver side battery. The thing has 5 or 6 metal lines coming out the top of it and it sounds like it is releasing pressure, any ideas what this is?

I have replaced many starters with the same symptoms on a variety of vehicles over the past 40 years. The internals can swell and bind when they get hot and won't turn until cool again. Hope it is as simple as that.
