I would like to put a truck topper/camper shell on my truck. I have dual stacks for my truck right now. Just wondering if any of you know if I can still buy somethin to allow the shell to fit with my stacks or would I have to make somethin custom? I really like those soft top camper shells that fold up so I dont have a heavy fiberglass shell to remove. The soft shells fold up also which is nice too.

It will need to be all custom. I have seen one truck that a guy cut holes in the shell's roof for his stacks.

Yea Im thinkin custom is what im gonna do. I've seen best tops. they make good stuff. Im wondering if I cut holes in a hard camper shell or a soft camper shell how would i seal up the holes? A hard camper shell would be a lot easier i would think. Soft would be a prob i think?

You have two independent moving objects, the bed and the stacks. You want to put a seal around the stacks, on a top that is mounted to the bed. You will need a flexible rubber seal or some other similar mat'l, to fasten the items with. I have no idea if the stacks get hot or just warm. My guess is warm at the most. My Kenworth would get HOT along the stacks after a good uphill pull. I was running a 450 hp DD that put out a lot more exhaust than our relatively small Ford motors. I think you should be able to make something.

The heat in the topper from the stacks passing threw will be high, and could be dangerous. My 5" exhaust get around 250deg at the back of the truck. You'll may need to come up with a vent system to help pull out the heat and any fumes that get in there when driving. I know that over time fiber glass will change color the resin will separate and start cracking.

Yea good points guys. I think I could find some big rubber grommets for the stack holes. I was thinkin if I can find a soft camper shell that is shorter than my 6.5ft bed i would be good. So basically I would have a gap between the shell and my stacks. I've emailed some soft camper shell dealers about what im doin.

A soft top can always be cut down. A awning shop or a boat top shop can do it. Talk to your local boat top shop they can build it for you most likely cheeper then a place that buys it from china.

True, that would be easier to work with fabric. I will have to check around. We do have a big sewing machine.
