Got a question. My 06 powerstroke is having some power problems in the cold weather. It starts fine. I put additive in the fuel to keep it from gelling up, but it doesn't seem like its helping. Any one else having this problem or have any ideas what to do? It stalled out last time it got below 15 degrees.

Welcome to SDD....

what kind of additive are you using?(using enough?)
has maitanance been kept up(oil changes, fuel filters...etc.)?
may just need to have the computer reflashed(reprogrammed from Ford)...hope this helps

cold weather trouble

You don't really say what the problem is. If it starts fine, but loses power or stalls under load, you might want to change your fuel filters. Most people don't realize you should drain your HFCM monthly also.

Cold weather should not pose much of an issue until it gets really cold, the kind of cold you don't see where you're from.

If you are using a good winter blend fuel, clean filters, the weather should not be a factor. But if you've got some moisture in your fuel tank contaminating the filter, you may have some issues in the cold.

I have a 06 to and just had my Ficm mod. replaced, Mine was hard to start if i didnt plug it in. If i had it pluged in it would start reasonabley good, but if not was a bear to get runnung, but once i got it started it ran ruff for about 30 sec and then smothed out. I needed like I said a new ficm (fuel injector control modular) and the updates and she is perfect now. I think even better now then even before it went south. I do know the ficm have been a problem for lots and there needing replaced with the new udated one and new software. Mine was under factory warrenty at 55K. It is under warr. until 100,000 or 5 yrs. Take it in. They will run tests on all the computers. These trucks should run perfect. Good luck and make sure you change them fuel filters too. That is very important. Only use the Ford fuel filters, not a cheap nok-off. The main filter underneith the drivers door has to be a special filerter with the cloth aournd the filter to keep water from getting into the injectors. So ofther brand to not have this and ....well sorry for your luck. Get the ford ones and dont scrimp here. There not that expensive either. I change in every other oil change, (10,000 miles) Hope this helps
