I remember that there was a procedure to access a trouble code thru odometer screen on our trucks. Does anyone here know that procedure? My truck keeps displaying the little engine light (for the first time in its life). It goes away after a few re-starts, but comes back in a day or two. I'd like to have an idea what it might be before I schedule the time to take it in if possible. Thanks for any help.

I dont recall the proceedure, although ive done it once but
what youll see arent trouble codes at all.

it will display things like mph/rpm/charge voltage and a few other
things....but it WONT display DTC's (diagnostic trouble codes)

on the 7.3s iwas a simple procedure of hling down the trip reset button, turn the key to on and still hold the buttn to clear the trip.
then turn key off
then hold the button and turn on the truck it should bounvce into a test mode with gauge sweeps, then start up and scroll through the codes on the digital odometer, it does have dtcs but they are buried near the end about 200 lines after the odd stuff

I have never been able to get my 6.0to do it

but its the same procedure
