I have minor trans problems and first call into Brian at BTS and he spent 30 minutes helping me problem solve. If I ever need a tranny I will head to ARK and see BTS. Local "Performance Transmission" shop in Kennedale said I needed a rebuild but Brian thinks its a spring in the valve body weak. Offered to ship me one since you cant buy them at furd or parts store.

OK heres what they have found out, i have a adapter plate that goes between the motor and flywheel to allow a "automatic" trans to be adapted. it broke and broke the welds on the flywheel and etc, they are going through the trans and fixing anything no charge but "

My question----Has anybody heard of the crank bearings getting loose and causing the crank to vibrate and move to the point that it causes the welds to break on a fly wheel and etc My truck has 265,000 on it, I thought i wouldn't need to rebuild till 500,000????

that does not sound right at all.

there was a TSB for autos with torque converters that sounded like marbles rattling in a can. iirc, this was for early trucks.

how many threads do you have going on this?

sounds like a bad tranny job and they shop is looking to stop their losses.
what work did they do in July? did they replace the T/C?

here are some TSB messages from dieselmann at intellidog.com-

98/99E-vans built after 1-5-98 and 99 F-series with 4R100 (E4OD) auto trans--rattle/scraping noise from bellhousing is caused by the torque converter. Verify the noise is caused by the converter by using an electronic transmission tester on break out box. Activate the Torque Converter Clutch solenoid by depressing and holding the TCC button on the trans tester or by grounding pin 54 of the B.O.B. If the noise disapprears with the TCC locked, replace the torque converter with new service part XL3Z-7902-DARM.

Delayed or no Second Gear:
2001 Trucks built between 7-27-00 and 3-23-01 with the 4R100 automatic may exhibit a delayed or no second gear. Trouble codes P0781, P0755 and P0756 may be present. This would be caused by a failed intermediate one-way clutch. The one-way clutch, intermediate brake drum and intermediate clutch plates will need to be replaced along with any associated parts.
TSB # 01-13-5
Notes: The condition of the fluid should be inspected to determine if repair or replacement of the transmission is necessary.
The serive manual incorrectly states the intermediate one way clutch should have clockwise free rotation. The intermediate OWC outer race must rotate counterclockwise when installed. Broadcast Message 1575.
