How often do you toss it? Every time you change the fluid or does it trap much?
Never put Mercon V in the tranny. Ford says no, Mark K, a Ford tranny engineer says no, your owners manual says no and it is even printed on your dipstick. Dexron 111 or Mercon is the only acceptable ATF and it says not to use a duel rated ATF that includes Mercon V in its label. Your tranny will be short lived with Mercon V in it.chaddiesel said:I thought that these trucks came with DexronIII/MerconV in the transmission. I have heard about the torque converter "shuttering" if the wrong fluid is used, what does it really have and what do you want to replace it with?

So what are you trying to say? Do you mean I should not use Mercon VJimmyDee said:Never put Mercon V in the tranny. DO NOT USE MERCON V.

Ya, you got the idea. As often as this comes up, you still see tons of people that think Mercon V is some type of new up grade for Mercon ATF. Even some of the less informed dealers think that.Crumm said:So what are you trying to say? Do you mean I should not use Mercon V
