Exactly. Brilliantly stated, MSgt.

At the trans mechanic now. I'll let ya know what he thinks.
Ps. My temp gauge is actually 6* higher than actual trans temp, from the pan.

However, in the 15 minute trip it took to get here, my gauge reads 220* right now. (really 214*) but either way, that's still too hot for comfort. Especially since it's only 93* ambient temp.

I'll follow up.

I will be interested to hear what ur mech has to say, Mike.

Today is the first warm day we've had (mid 90s in Reno) and as I was driving in town I noticed my trans temps in the 170-190 range, and upwards of 200 idling thru traffic.

I installed a temp gauge this winter, so not sure what the baseline was, but never before have I seen temps this high, even when towing up Donner Summit with close to 10,000lbs in the stock trailer.

Now as soon as I got on the freeway, it cooled down to the 170 range, but when I exited to surface streets again it warmed up. Generally the temps are between 140-150 in the past.

I replaced the bypass line at 100,000mi when I flushed the trans (per the wiki instructions here) as the rear port was puking out expensive trans fluid. Also have put on Dieselsites cooler...

At 225,000 can that stupid bypass line be partially plugged again???

Like I said, Mike, be interesting to hear what ur guy says....
