I need help..

I took my truck into Planet Ford to have my oil cooler and new head gaskets replaced . A couple weeks later I tried to use my 4x4 and the dash light did not show in 4x4 and it wasn't in 4w dr .. I put it on my scanner and the code came up as 1832..

Everything was working before I dropped it off..

Any suggestions?

Sounds like someone forgot to plug in something after the engine work was done.

Sorry, I don't know what 1832 is exactly, other than to say it's transmission related.

Other than that, I'd consider taking it back to them and tell them what you found. They shouldn't expect you to inspect the vehicle front-to-back, top-to-bottom, testing every switch and function when they return it to you.

Actually, I think the mechanic should've done some of that after they got to the point where he/she thought they were "done".

I don't think a few weeks delay in finding the problem should automatically relieve them of the responsibility of fixing it no charge.

However, I guess it is possible that in the two week period, something happened unrelated to their tinkering with it to cause the problem. I guess once the problem is found, it would be a judgement call.
