Possibly....could be anything with the transmission.

Is it doing anything...... Whine/moan when accelerating? Shuddering under a load??

I would get codes pulled ASAP

VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) It is located on the top of the rear differential and very easy to replace. About a $30 part. Unscrew it and put the new one in and make sure the connections are clean.

Very common issue and a flashing O/D or Tow/Haul light is usually the signal.
