Hello, this is my first post, so hope it go well. Just wondering what the normal trans temps should be. We are spending spring break in Colorado, and driving here the trans temps are running about 100 degrees over the outside temps. About 155 to 165 when running about 70 to 75. I was just wondering whats going to happen when I'am back in Texas and the temps are 100 plus what is going to happen? Thanks

Naturally the hotter it is outside the hotter the operating temperature of the transmission.

My trans temp runs between 110 and 125 degrees no matter what the weather. I have the stock cooler, an aftermarket cooler w/electric fan (controlled by me) and aftermarket trans pan. 155-165 degrees is not abnormal for a stock truck but naturally the lower you can get the operating temps the better. I would recommend an aftermarket cooler and/or trans pan to decrease the temps and extend the life of the transmission.

Ive rarely seen more than 165* on the gauge..."normal" is
somewhere between 150 & 165...even when its been 100* out
and i was towing a car last summer.

youve got nothing to worry about until the temps start reaching 180/200.
