I thought it was explained to me that the gas engines had higher RPM so they needed a bigger cooler.
That doesn't make any sense to me. To my knowledge, the tranny ratios, rear end ratios and tire sizes are all the same, gas or diesel engines. That being said, the rpms on the highway should be the same. The only differnce should be the shift points as controlled by the PCM programming.
I think it's a case of car companies have been building vehicles for almost 100 years now and they have absolutely zero memory as to lessons previously learned. They are continuously trying to "re-invent the wheel" and still manage to screw it up. They have absolutely no concept of "stick with what works".
