Help ME PLEASE!! Tranny overheating after So Called Repair:cussing: .Lines are hot to filter and filter housing hot .Not hot past filter or cooler.Changed filter -no change.Picked truck up today from stealership after head gaskets,egr, egr cooler,injectors .In shop for a month.Checked oil before I moved truck--Guess what! NO OIL ON STICK. So called mechanic says he put 14 quarts in,,now going to another stealership to get high pressure oil pump changed out.Same mechanic said I didnt change oil enough B_S.He cant even check dipstick, Are there any good places in SO. Indiana to get 6.0 warranty work done?:cussing: 58,000 mile truck is piece of xhit.

you have gauges ? whats the tranny temp reading ?
theres a thermostat in the cooler or bypass filter...it wont open/
flow coolant til the system is warm.

my 04 barely reaches 160* (empty/no-tow) goin' down the road.

hot trans

no ,I just have the factory guage.Need to get real guages soon. Did you say there is a thermostat in the aux filter housing? it takes about 20 miles for the guage to read hot,then i smell trans fluid-no leaks. lines are cool in front of filter but filter housing is hot.

You need a sat of gages on this truck. Are you pulling anything when it gets this hot. That factory gage is just a idiot light that looks like a gage. Your TC may be coming apart and stopping up the cooling lines. Sounds like the dealer needs to replace the Transmission, T/C and clean out the cooling lines.
I am sure that others know more about this than I do, and maybe will join in. Just my 2cents.

took lines all off today incliding inline filter--mechanic at stealership left plug in cooler and put lines back on--way to go dumbo-cool as a cucumber now.dont trust dealer mechanics!!!
