I have a 99 f-250 superduty 4x4 w/7.3 liter deisel. I am the original owner and it has 140K miles on it. My problem is after about 15 minutes of driving the tranny starts slipping and when I come to a stop it will not down shift into 1st by its self I have to do it manually. It has no codes in the system, and the fuild and filter have been changed about 7,000 miles ago. I changed it again to see if it would fix it, but it made no differance. Could it be a dirty valve body? Please help! thanks Nick

P.S. This is my first time using this forum, How do I check the results?

Welcome to the forums Nick, if you'll just check back in here at this thread you will find where the other members have replied to you at.

It sounds to me like your torque converter is what is causing the slippage that you are feeling. As to the not shifting down into 1st, that may be a gummed up valve body, especially if you have had the tranny hot due to slippage. Do you have a transmission temp gauge?

Sounds a little like what mine did when I modded the accumulator and messed up the little screen filter between it and the body which let it leak and the warmer it get the worse the tranny slipped. One other thing is too much fluid will cause some issues as it warms up and expands, I would make sure you check it when the tranny is warm and on level ground(running in park) just to make sure.

balls fell out

I have already taken it to a tranny shop and they said there where no codes in the system. Now I have taken the valve body off and taken the valves out and cleaned them. After I put it back on I figured I would take down the valve body next to the seleniod when I did the plate fell and the balls fell out. I found 2 is that all there is? and where do they go? I am going to try and find a manual today. thanks Nick

Im not sure about the balls in that tranny, never really tore one that far down except when i did my sonnex which was easy, this might help. if you look at the body you will see either little springs which would have the balls in that area, or check and see if any of the passages have a little seat built into the end of it....i lost balls on a c-6 once and found a wheel that had ball bearing in it that were the same size and used them.....hope this helps....ill try and see what i i can find online for you.......maybe i might get lucky in a search.....
