--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just installed new stage 2 injectors and a TW 6 pos chip. I took it for a test drive and my truck does not want to shift from 1st to 2nd. I pulled the chip and it will shift but only after you bring it up to 2100rpm then decelerate, it will then shift smoothly. It will not shift under acceleration. 2nd-3rd is fine and so is OD. I put a scanner on it and have NO codes. It does not feel like it is slipping but simply will not shift. Could the new power have damaged the trannie this quickly, I had no issues before. Seems like a sensor but not having any codes concerns me. I will call DP in the am but was hoping someone has an idea. Due to my most recent mods I am broke. bad time for the trannie to go. really hoping it is not that bad.
Truck has 115K No idea if/when the filter/fluid has been changed. Fluid is red smells good not burnt and full
Thank you in advance

Welcome to SDD. I don't think that you fried the tranny. I sounds like a bad speed sensor. I know you said that there are no codes, which is odd. Is there any codes with the chip in? A tranny fluid/filter change may be in order.

When performed by the owner the Filter change and fluid flush is cheap insurance compared to a complete rebuild IMO.

While you have the pan down I recommend installing the tricumulator and Sonnax kits for they'll help with the shifts and possibly extend the life of the 4R100.

I'm with MBRC & CHP on this. Change out the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). It's a common root cause for what you describe. It's only a 25-30 dollar part and easy to replace.

Then, when it's affordable for ya.. Do the tranny fluid change and what CHP sez about the tricumulator & Sonnax kit.

Bet you'd be Good To Go. ;tu

I am having a similar problem with "DIESEL" after the Edge,Intake, and Exhaust install. With the edge on 0 or 1 it shift normalish, turn it up and it hangs for a few seconds before shifting and then slams into gear like a neutral drop. I only have a few hundred miles on it since I bought it and have not done the fluid and filter change yet.

Is this the Mod you where referring to?

Changed out the VSS tonoight but it did not help out. I replsced the one on the rearend not the one in the trans., I noticed if I put in manually into 2nd then take off slow it shifts smoothly into 3rd not slipping or odd shift. If I take off slow in first then back off the throttle it will slide into 2nd if under acceleration it will not. Next step will be to go to a tranny shop for an estimate, if they can fit me before the weekend I will change the fluid/filter this weekend.
Thank you for all the help

I have to drop the pan on mine soon and replace a temp sensor so I might as well do the sonnax & tricumulator kits, where might I be able to get these at?

Diesel Innovations, Pure diesel power or just about any other website will usually sell them. The shop that rebuilt my trans provided mine. I know some www. sell different sizes depending on how hard you want your trans to shift. Mine has a large port valve and it will chirp second gear on my dually, but when it shifts to four it feels like someone kicks me in the back. You can also purchase a medium or even a full open valve if you don't like your back at all.
