:D I'm crossing my fingers but I think I may have dodged the bullet ($$$) for now anyway. I put in some Seafoam cleaner, drove it about 6 miles, then flushed the system and replaced the trans filter. After test driving, everything seems to be working properly again. I'm still planning on trading out the stock trans cooler with the 6.0L cooler in the next few weeks before I tow the fifth wheel again. Dealer price is $359 but they only have the 26 row cooler and their system doesn't even recognize the 31 row part number. I can get the 31 row for about $350 from powerstrokeshop.com. I also found I have an external in-line filter that must have been added when I had the reman put in at 100K. The only reason I knew it was there was a sticker on the pan when I drained it. Anyway, thanks everyone for the suggestions. You were a big help!:notworthy

20-30 Degree Trans Temp Drop w/6.0L Trans Cooler

From early August: Just installed the 6.0L cooler in my early 99 7.3L last week. Bolted right in with just some minor plumbing work to adapt from the larger inlet/outlet ports to the 3/8" stock hose. I'll be putting a load on it next week and see what the temps look like.

September Update - Since the install in August, I've put about 1300 miles (3 different trips) pulling the 12K+ 5er with the larger trans cooler with great results. :sweet I haven't seen the trans temp go over 180 even once where previously it would easily reach 200-210 under the same conditions with the smaller stock cooler.

Great mod I would have never known about without this site. :hail:hail:hail:hail:hail:hail:hail
