Tranny flush/fill dino to syn

OK, here's a question I've not seen addressed- If after swapping a bigger tranny pan and filter, I fill the trans with synthetic. What happens with regard to the dino oil left in the convertor? Will the mixing of the dino and syn fluids effectively screw the pooch?

Yes sort of, you should of purged all of the dino oil before the syn fill. the two oils (mercon sp) are not compatible I believe. Also what trans do you have? The torqueshift? post some info about you truck.

Ok here's the bill.... the proper oil for that tranny is Mercon SP. do not put any dino oils in that tranny you will hurt it.... YOU WILL HURT IT!

The Mercon SP is a synthetic oil. As Pete said, do not put anything else in it. I did a full Royal Purple swap on my truck and still run the SP in the tranny.
