tranny fluid and carpet

any ideas on the cleanup.. long story short, half of a two gallon jug was opened somehow and spilled on the passenger side floor of my truck...nice Christmas present. to see it running out from under the door.

Ouch. I have no idea. Hopefully someone will have some ideas. Obviously start by soaking up all you can.

You might want to check with your insurance, they might cover it as well.

could you use some "kitty liter" to soak it up, before you start the real cleaning process?

You could do what I did--pull out the carpet and swap it with a rubber floor. It won't help your current situation, but it'll make cleanup of future spills a lot easier.

1) Use an "oil only" rag to sop up the bulk fluid -then-
2) Spread oil absorbant granules on stain
3) Vacuum granules then pack stain with corn starch
4) Vacuum corn starch
5) Get some RID dye and dye the carpet red

Your carpet is trashed. Don't waste a lot of $$ on fixes. Unless you can find someone who will dry clean it.

I know it's not the same, but WD-40 got the tar and asphalt out of my tan carpet. Might try a sample spot to see if it'll break down the T fluid...but I doubt it... maybe bleach and re color dye? I'm just thinking out loud here...

That would work if you arn't worried about some other stuff getting wet. Spray alittle zep degreaser on there and it will come out with a hot pressure washer.
