Is it possible for the stock track bar bushing/s to go bad or collapse on 99-2004 SuperDuty/Excursions and what would be the best way to correct it?

I was thinking about installing an adjustable model that way the front tires will line up straight with the rear tires before we head to Los Angeles Monday afternoon:sweet

If it's made of rubber it can detoriate(sp) over time. These made be a real pain to change, but I would proably go with Daystar or something along those lines. Do not by shy with the grease when installing these, do not want any squeaks.

It might be cost effective to just buy a new bar if the old bushings have to be pressed out and you have to pay to have it done. Adjustable track bars are very easy to install. You will need a very big torque wrench to torque correctly, 475 ft lbs IIRC.

Hope this helps, Greg

An aftermarket adjustable track bar might be too long for stock height.

I'll be stopping by SDHQ in the morning to have a adjustable track bar installed this week since the 2002-03 stock bars are more bound to bend than previous years.

The bolt in the frame bracket seems offset to the drivers side which I'll assume the bushing is finished.

The never ending costs with being "on vacation" I guess :D

And JL the X isn't lifted just installed taller Vcodes and rear f350 blocks so it's in the 2-2.5" lift area.

Kevin, after we were done in LA and back in Phoenix,Ryan at SDHQ:notworthy was able to squeeze me in Friday morning to install the new Edge edjustable pan-rod bar and discovered the tie rod was also wasted so that got replaced as well.

The steering & handling is 100% better,it's like all new!:thumbs

The steering wheel is also dead straight now and not off to the left like it was previously.

smart move going adjustable... I just put one on a Jeep last Saturday, who's owner couldn't figure out why three shops did wheel alignments and couldn't get the steering wheel straight... his lift over the existing track bar pulled the front axle off center nearly 4"
