Gauges are on the way this week with an A-pillar mount. Now considering a larger turbo housing and maybe a swisher turbo or WW.

Pretty much decided against a whole new turbo. Too much green when I'm not going for injectors, etc. I just want the best towing performance - safely with no damage to the truck.

Appreciate the warnings.

A 1.00 exhaust housing works out great on most trucks, add a WW and its about a perfect set up.

There is NO performance gain by adding an ATS housing (compressor housing) but you get rid of surge. But you will gain top end and eleminate 80-90% of surge with an exhaust housing swap.

Hey fellow 7.3 PSD friends! This is my first post-not sure what I'm doing or the proper process to reach everyone--here goes. I have a 2001 F-350 PSD 7.3L ,Automatic,3.73 gears and pull a 37 ft (approx 14K lbs) 2006 Designer Fver ,and would like to know what power and mileage mods can be made at a reasonable cost without major work or expense? I have a straight pipe(no muffler)K&N air filter,4+qt larger Hughes Tranny Pan,Air ride bags, air gate tailgate replacement, and have drilled out the plate beside the radiator to get a Ram air into the air filter snorkle. I currently get 22.8 empty, and 13 mpg towing the Fiver at 1,700 rpm.Heard talk about these mods;EBP deletefoil delete,AIH delete,HPX,ATS shroud, ccv trap,tru-cooler,etc--Can anyone tell me what all these mods are exactly, how they are done and RESULTS!! THANKS, Harry C. Risher

I would get rid of the K&N filter and get something like an AFE filter. The K&N's don't filter very well and they let grit get into the intake tract. This will wear out your rings faster.

Yeah what he said - grit is also hard on your turbo.

1956 Ford,
The sound you are getting is Turbo surge. I have the same problem towing my 18,000 lb. 5'r. I tried a Wicked Wheel and I lost all my low end boost and had nothing but problems. Ran great otherwise. I have many upgrades to my truck and it pulls just great. I wish I was getting better mpg, but with pulling all that weight what can you expect?

X3 What Joe said! Chip + no gauges = easily ruined motor. (especially if towing a heavy load)

I'd bet that its surge as well. I can't say I've used the wicked wheel, as I upgraded to a bigger turbo :D
