Well i know mine was intermittent. Sometimes the guage would show correctly but most of the time it was maxed out. Sometimes the trans wouldnt shift into 4th either, which is a pain when you are on the highway.
If it fixes it then it will be worth it. My only complaint is that it isnt covered under warrenty. Truck is a 2003 with 52,000 miles. ohhh well.

I forgot to mention that i didnt want to try the cheap options first because i have to drive to South Dakota this weekend to drop of my Cobra to its new owner.

Well i got a new sensor today it was only 98 bucks for a cheesy little sensor. Gonna pull the tranny plug and clean it with some contact cleaner see if that fixes it first. Then i'll drop the pan and replace the sensor and see if that works. For 900 bucks that some gun can stay pegged out or i'll just find me a resistor and put it in the plug.

yeah, but mine wouldnt shift into forth, i aint driving to South Dakota with only 3 gears (or is it a 5 speed auto?.... hell you know what i mean)

yeah mine didnt shift into od the other day but it was right after i loaded a custom tune so i thought it was it. Returned it to stock and then reloaded the tune. Been fine since
