This is the first time I got to test the 4 wheel drive. I got stuck because the 4 wheel drive didn't work at all. My brother-in-law told me the vacuum lines are melted. How hard is this to fix? And is there any other kind of 4 wheel drive that works better than air lockers (?)? Is that what the front hubs are?

Help me with my NOOB question.

it has manual hubs....I have to get out and lock them.?? Do Warn's work off of a vacuum like the one's I have now? How about ease of fixing the vacuum lines that I have now?
Thanks

My other truck had a manual shift transfer case and had to dial the hubs into the "Lock" position.

On the newer vacuum actuated auto hubs I believe the transfer case is electronically actuated(anyone correct me) and the hubs have to be in the Auto, but if the vacuum fails at the hubs then place it into Lock.

The Warn hubs you have to get out and put it into Lock to go 4x4 otherwise Free for 4x2.

Warn 38826 Premium Hubs

Vacuum wise if you had a leak in the system(hubs) you'd only get Cold/Hot air from the defroster vents only.

OK maybe I am just an idiot, but I have hubs that can be turned to lock. Does this mean that the original non-manual hubs were replaced? Or did F250s come with manual hubs that do not have to be locked but can be if needed?

type in lay terms because I am an dumb--- when it comes to 4 wheel drive.

how do manual hubs physically work?

my truck has the stock lock/auto hubs which can be activated with the ESOF switch. but i have found that manually locking them for 4 wheelin is alot better than relying on the vacume lines.
