Tires causing steering wander?

Hi! I am new to this forum. I have a 2004 F250 4X4 with the 6.0 with only 20K miles. I upgraded my tires to 285/75-16 Bridgestone Dueler Revos, load range D. I know I will probably get a lot of crap for doing this, but they did not have a load range E available at the time. Now you can get the Revos 2 in the load range E. Anyway, my steering seems to wander. I am running 60 psi in the front tires and about 50 psi in the rear. Max pressure is only 65 psi on these tires. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

maybe the gearbox for the steering or steering stabilizers would be my guess but i'm sure someone with more experience will be along shortly

I don't have enough miles on the truck for the gearbox to be worn out already. As far as the steering stabilizer, I installed a heavy duty aftermarket stabilizer.

how many miles on the truck?

when did the wander start?

what's been changed to eliminate the wander?

I only have a little over 20K miles. I am not 100% sure, but it seems that I noticed the steering problem after I switched to the new tires. I replaced the stock steering stabilizer with a heavy duty aftermarket unit.

well, it is possible..
deeper tread will flex more, and may cause issues...

get the alignment checked and have them toe it in a hair.. see if that helps

I had the alignment checked and they said that the toe in was off. Well, that did not help.

2 things here! as stated above new tires have deeper tread which will cause more sidewall flex plus you went to a load range d tire more flexable as well. As long as you are not overloading the d range tires, you'll be fine as soon as you get used to them, also for longest tire life air them to side wall recomendations that will also stiffen them up. HTHs

The max pressure on these D rated tires is 65 psi. I am running them at 60 psi now. How can I tell if I am overflating them?
