Well guys, I am looking at getting a new set of tires for my F250 FX4 truck. I am still trying to decide on a tire and the size. I was told if I get the 305R17 and keep the factory rims that it would not be a good choice because of the tire wear. The 305s are wider than the 285 which means according to discount tire that if I got the 305s they would wear out in the center because of the pressure I am putting on the front with the ranch hand replacement bumper and the diesel. So my question is what do yall think? Should I get 285s which is what discount tire recommended or get the 305s? Anyone have any experience? Also how often do you rotate your tires?

I had the 285 BFG's on the stock rims and they needed 3,000 mile balance/rotation and they required alot of wheel weights.

I cannot speak for the wranglers.

The BFG's got replaced by my current Michelin LTX M/S which only need 1-3 oz per wheel and get rotated/balanced every 4,000 miles but then again I upgraded to 16x8 wheels which made the world of a difference on tire wear.

I purchased both brands thru Discount Tire.

When i replaced mine a month ago, i wanted to go taller also, but didnt have the money for different rims. I did find out that my tires are 33.16 inches tall (i wanted to go taller) so if my memory serves me ( ha the way i want it to), the BFGs were shorter for my case, (i have 18s) just because its taller and wider doesnt mean its right for the rim, check it out first.

I'm not sure what they are saying about the wear, and extra weight... The bigger tire will have less PSI, forces acting on it, than the skinnier tire. so it should wear... less I'd think.

I'm running 305's on factory rims and seems good....only about 3 weeks old so can't give any wear specifics.
