My daughter took pics of a very impressive albino buck a few years ago it had been around about 5-6 years then we found out it was taken during bow season 3 weeks later even tho IL. has a statute that states it is illegal to take an all white deer well I found out that if it has dirt, tree sap, blood, any color on it, it is fair game now what does a buck do during the rut?

That's crazy!!! That law should be changed because the color you're mentioning is not a "natural" color, only artificial.

Now now calm down... I said he has been around the farm for about a year now.. we have no intention of shooting him at all.. I do like the looks of an albino full body mount but this deer is part of the family. We do mostly bow hunting around here and if he can stay away from the property lines during gun season so as not to be shot by some unappreciative wannabe hunter he'll last a long time. I have been archery hunting since I was 9 years old and my dad has always preached "respect"... respect the hunt.. respect the animals.. respect the land... We manager our deer herd very well and take pride in the way we hunt. I appreciate getting an opportunity to enjoy one of God's rare creations and I understand what you're saying:thumbs

I feel better now..Your the man....:D

When I was young, I was an avid hunter, so I can understand were some are coming from. Now that I am older than dirt, my passion for killing things is gone. I know hunters help by putting money into the system.
As we get older, our opinions change. Not always in the same way. If I had a hungry family and limited income, I would be the first to go hunting.

ordinarily, I'd say he's a genetic mutation that should be culled from the herd..

but I wouldn't shoot him..

X2. I don't have it in me anymore either. Even fishing I catch and release. And the only birds I shoot any more are made of clay. But when it comes to my garden and wood-chucks...all bets are off!

Yep, them white ones are genetically inferior to thier brown brethren. Not natural, not superior and definetly not as Ma Nature intended the poor lil bugger to be. He will spend the rest of his life being singled out by predators, two legged, four legged and winged alike. Albinos are also more prone to disease and passing along weak genetics to offspring. In many cases G&F will cull these mutants.

Long live the hunt and hunter, but I agree.... I wouldnt shoot it. The white doe I posted above has been hanging out about 1/2 mile from my house for 9 years now.
