I love mine, and I don't worry about my daughter opening the tailgate on her head. On a side note, I accidentally dropped my buddy's tailgate out of habit. It came down hard :(

Would my tailgate be harder to close?

The 2008 tailgates have the "easylift" action. there is a torsion rod that runs along the bottom of the tail gate.

Bama, without the torsion lift, how would a <08 feel when closing? Do you think it would make the tailgate feel heavier, and slower to close?

Thinking back to when I had the original tailgate, I dont remember it being that hard to lift and close, unless i had my arms full of stuff.

But as far as I know, all the '08 tailgates have the lift assist torsion rod in them.

I believe they added the torsion rod to the new 2005 F150's and then carried that over to the '08 Super Duty.

I guess my question is, will this MOD add resistance or drag when closing? Obviously it adds resistance when opening. It looks like a cool idea. I like the concept...thanks!

It is alittle slow when opening, it takes 8 seconds from the time i lift the handle to fully opened.

So I would say that the shock itself is whats giving the resistance when opening, not the torsion rod.

Bama, pardon me, cuz I might be starting to beat you down with this. My question is, does it resist when CLOSING also?

The 2008's have the asistance of the torsion rod when closing. The prior years do not. I am thinking of my wife...and how much harder it would be to CLOSE the tailgate if the MOD resists that direction also. Thanks for being patient with me!

Thanks!

No, I can not tell any diff. in closing the tailgate with the EZ-Down. It feels the same as before I installed it.

You are awesome. You, as well as a few of the other regs, are a great resource for the rest of us. :notworthy

Thanks for your willingness to share what you know to the rest of the PSD Nation!
