Yeah I think overall you're better off with a diesel. Espeically if the petro companies go "ethanol" or "bio fuels". B/c a F150 on Ethanol is going to get 5mpg's while if we burn Biodiesel that's the real deal we might actually do the same/better.

It's interesting--I have people all the time lately asking me "when are ya gonna sell that fuel eating truck?". When they find out what I'm getting mpg compared to what they're driving they shut up pretty quick. NO WAY am I selling my truck.....I'll wait it out.......just cutting back on unnecessary driving and avoiding heavy traffic as much as possible.........it works for me so that big diesel is gonna stay right where it is--in my driveway!!!!! :D:D

I whole hartedly agree with you guys!! I drove a 00 GMC ECSB with a 5.3 and I was up to about $400 a month on fuel and thats after adding all the "fuel saving" mods. I filled my 06 Super Duty up on Monday and I still have over a 1/4 tank of fuel. There is absolutly no way on GODs green earth that 5.3 would do that! I am also getting my stuff together to start making my own fuel, try that with a gasser!

Gofast- I think you hit the nail on the head.. try making your own fuel with a gasser!!! It's kind of funny how the price spread between gas and diesel is roughly 20%, which is just enough to offset the gains the diesel get vs a gasser. I wonder where they came up with that figure :stir There is enough investment capital in this country to start having private bio fuel companies sprout up... try that with a gasser!!!!!!!!! And if we were damn serious about cutting out consumption of oil barrels per year... the smartest thing would be diesel in all cars/trucks. That would put a whack on that oil barrel consumption figure overall. THEN we could worry about getting them cleaned up for the EPA. First A, then B. Priorities and interests.

The debate takes a whole new direction when you consider the fact that LOWer-MPG vehicles are WAY down in market value...and HIGHer-MPG vehicles are getting premium dollars. You lose your shorts in that transaction, especially at a dealer!

When deciding whether or not to "trade-in", you have to factor in how much $$$ you lost, then measure the fuel savings against that. It may take you YEARS for your fuel savings to simply off-set the loss you took buying a fuel efficient car!

I'll proudly keep those $thousand$ in my pocket, stick with my PSD, and ride this out. In the end, the diesel fuel price will end up back below gasoline, where it's always been in the past.

exactly. like when I went to look at a GM 5.3 1500. They kept hammering the fact I'll be saving so much, the price difference the good GM mileage etc... but hell my payment was going up a few hundred bucks per month!!! just to save what... $50/mo. :dizzy F O R G E T IT

Hydrogen is the future. I've been doing a lot of research on HHO. Very promising in my opinion. There are kits out there now for $1500 to convert your car/truck to use hydrogen. Obviously you would have to supplement diesel with the HHO unlike gassers which are running on pure HHO. I'm seriously looking into getting a kit in the near future.

What's your take on HHO? All of the stuff I've read seems to make sense to me. I'm very close to installing one in the next month or so.

I'd like to know this myself. How exactly does HHO work? Where/how do you get the hydrogen and how is it measured? Is it really worth spending $1500 on a kit? Does it really improve MPG? Inquiring minds want to know...........
