Truck only has 28,000miles on it but the alt has already had to be replaced and also the water in fuelfilter light stays on. i want the truck and it is in goodshape. I work at the dealership and will be basically geting the vehicle at cost. they will be replaceing the alt and also replacing tires and also a couple of recalls.. just venting and excited about the truck.

Did you do the Oasis report on the truck? Is it clear except the current alternator and fuel light? If so I would jump on it. I just bought my truck a few months ago and I haven’t had 1 regret.

Thanks guy's for the responses. Yeah my friend is a mechanic at our local ford dealer and he's telling me that the truck is solid. We were able to pull all the history on the vehicle and thank god nothing major just some weather
stripping and other little minor common problems. No major work has been performed. My ???is is it normal for the alt to go out so soon. From what i read there is a TSB on the WIF light..That is being repaired as we speak.
Im going to buy it, My next ?? the exhaust..Should that be my 1st mod
thanks for reading guy's

Welcome to SDD fmotorsport410. Yes the exhaust should be your next mod. I would follow that up with some guages so you can see what the truck is doing. A boost gauge and an EGT gauge are a must for Ford Diesels.

i deff give mbrp:thumbs, with a stock truck egts are not really a problem, but if u program or chip, and or tow with it u deffinatly have to watch to make sure u dont cook the turb, 1250 is pretty much an egt max, anything over that is a little dangerous...welcome to the site!!

Well no it's not normal - but it is mechanical and so they do break from time to time. I would not worry about it all.

Good luck with it and welcome to SDD :sweet

Also one thing to remeber is where you place your probe, if you place your pryo before the turbo those temps are a good rule of thumb, if you place it after the turbo which most people don't you subtract roughly 100* from the recommended limits. As more members will reply going pre-turbo is highly recommended. But remember it's your truck and you can do with it what you want.

Good luck and congrats
